Island Empire (David Lynch)

Anyone see it yet? I am hoping this weekend as I ended up too bust last week.

A Polish woman looks intently into someone or something...an actress (Laura Dern) is warned that her new movie is cursed... a rabbit-headed family performs sitcom actions on stage as if engaged in a solemn ritual. Such are just a few of the elements and recurrent motifs of David Lynch's Inland Empire, a mesmerizing surge through countless looking glasses that lands us on the far side of the land of nightmares. (2006, David Lynch, USA & France, 179m, featuring Laura Dern, Jeremy Irons, Justin Theroux)

Inland Empire

David Lynch broke my brain. I read an interview wih him recently where he said something along the lines of "Don't put too much thought into it: I'm just telling a story and some of it isn't made to be understood".

I love David Lynch but I hate being left in the dark by a film. And I expected it from Inland Empire but it's still driving me crazy. I have to say that after one viewing, I liked it lots (not as much as his other stuff I'm more familiar with) but for 70% of it I was more disturbed and terified than I was at any point during Eraserhead.

Man, it was great, but I hate it. And love it.

Anyone else seen it/want to comment?

PS: Oops, I found another thread on this. Sorry. Mergy-mergy!

"Why did he have to replace it?" we wondered.
"Because he'd cut a hole in it." said Andrew, authoritively.
I ventured that I would just have gone at it between the cushions.
There's more than one way to fuck a couch.
